This batch of Bawsey style tiles has been checkerboarded with plain earthenware tiles, simply because I only have 5 of the Bawsey type. They are shown here in relief, as the originals were, although they are smaller than the originals. This style of tile occurs in Bawsey, near Kings Lynn,

at Burton Lazars and at Barnstable in Devon and possibly other places I don’t know about

Here you have close ups of the two relief tiles, this means the pattern is raised up, that being said, if you look at them long enough, they appear to be counter relief?

One of the interesting things about the Thomas tile is that it was carved with the name Thomas on it, yet the carver didn’t realise it was for a stamp, therefore it is reversed.

There is dust on the first tile that will easily come out , I didn’t see it until I had taken the photo.
